Privacy Policy
Your privacy, plainly.
Effective October 1, 2026
findfido.ai is a free breed identification and adoption discovery site. This page explains what information the site handles and why. The short version: we collect little, we sell nothing, and you can turn off analytics entirely with one click in Your choices.
What we collect
- Dog photos you upload. Used to generate a breed estimate and your result card. Uploads and results are kept until you delete them. If you share a result, its link (findfido.ai/id/...) keeps working, photo included, until you delete it: every shared result page has a "Delete this result" link that removes both the record and the photo.
- Your account, if you create one. Email, an encrypted password (or your Google sign-in), an optional first name, the dogs you save, and whether you asked for local partner offers (off unless you check the box; one email to us turns it off again). Delete the account any time by emailing us.
- Your location, only if you share it. Your browser may ask to share your location, or you can type a ZIP code, to find dogs near you. We never store your precise location; usage statistics keep at most a ZIP-code-level area.
- Contact form details. If you submit the rescue signup or partner form, we receive what you enter (such as name, email, and phone) by email so we can respond.
- Shelter portal login. Signing in to the shelter portal sets a session cookie so you stay logged in.
How photos are processed
Breed estimates are produced by our AI service provider, which processes your photo to read the breed mix. Results are an AI visual estimate, not a genetic test. We may use uploaded photos and their results to improve how Fido identifies breeds. If you would rather we not keep a photo, delete the result or email us and we will remove it.
Cookies and tracking
findfido.ai sets functional cookies (your login session and an anonymous session id) and keeps your breed results in your own browser's session storage. To understand how the site is used, we record usage events (such as a page viewed or a search made) with at most a ZIP-code-level area, and we use PostHog, a product analytics service, in the same spirit. No advertising trackers, no ad networks, and nothing follows you around the internet. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal we honor it automatically, and the opt-out below turns all analytics off regardless.
Where data lives
The site is hosted on Render. Adoptable dog listings come from RescueGroups.org and are stored in our database (hosted on Neon) so pages load quickly; listing data is provided by shelters and rescues, not collected from you. Form submissions arrive in our email inbox.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal information. Ever.
- Store your precise location. Usage statistics keep a ZIP-level area at most.
- Run ads or share your activity with ad networks.
Your choices
Flip this switch and findfido.ai stops all analytics for this browser (our own usage events and PostHog) and never shares anything with partners. It sets one cookie that says "leave me out", nothing else.
Children
findfido.ai is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. Privacy questions, or want something you submitted deleted? Email privacy@findfido.ai and we will take care of it. Anything else: hello@findfido.ai.
