Health

[YELLOW]Background: Brought in on protective custody hold on 9/2/26. Owner was unable to care for the dogs due to illness. Given Yellow dot on intake. No intake handling notes available. Updated to Blue dot on 9/4/26: dog was initially very overwhelmed and sensitive. Hesitant to come out of kennel. Darted around on leash in response to environmental stimuli. Hesitant to pass people walking in the hallway. Updated to Yellow dot on 9/10/26: Crew volunteers noted that dog is more relaxed with handling. Yellow volunteer was able to leash, socialize, and walk dog without issues.B Summary of most recent volunteer and staff handling notes. Staff handling notes include one outing and handling for dog-dog evaluation.B O: Standing at the front of the kennel with neutral posture, loose body and soft eyes. Easy to leash. Moderate pulling on leash down the hallway and while walking outside. Urinates and defecates immediately on entering the yard. Orients to handler in the yard. Leans into pets all over head, neck, chest, shoulders, back with loose and relaxed musculature and loose wagging tail. Tolerant of touch around belly and legs. Steps closer after consent check. Volunteers report dog will crawl into lap for pets. Does not respond to verbal cue or lure for sit. Takes treats with a soft mouth. Picks up tossed toys and prances around with loose body and high wagging tail. Does not engage with barking ward mates while walking through the ward. Hesitates at the kennel threshold, but follows handler into kennel. Slip leash can be removed by hand without issue.Volunteer notes to date are consistent with staff notes.A: Affiliative young dog with minimal training. Presents as medium stable energy. Playful with toys and shows enjoyment with pets. Treat motivated. Possibly house trained (eliminates on entering the yard). Does not appear to know any basic commands. Yellow for volunteer handling: dog pulls moderately on leash and hesitant to return to kennel; can be somewhat environmentally sensitive but has relaxed over time and appears to be acclimated to the shelter routine. Consider for Green if recommended by volunteers.B B P: Make available for adoption. Adopters should continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may behave around children.B [2026-09-16 03:45:00.000]
