[YELLOW]Background: Owner surrender on 8/29/26. Dog was adopted from this shelter in January 2026. Surrendering d/t behavior and financial reasons (see owner surrender notes for details). Given Yellow dot on intake. First time meeting handler for evaluation on 8/31/26.O: Dog was at the front of the kennel. Easy to leash. Walks on leash ahead of handler. Neutral posture, low tail. Dropped leash in the yard. Dog approached handler. Did not take treats. Stood still with neutral posture, turned head slightly away from handler while being touched. Tolerated handling all over head, neck, shoulders, back, belly, and legs. Stayed still after consent check. Did not respond to verbal cue or hand signal for sit. Ran after and tossed tennis ball and picked up. Returned to handler and began bouncing around. Bounced around and played with a squeaky toy during handler directed play and some independent play. Walked well on leash back to kennel. Removed slip leash by hand.B Volunteers report that dog knows sit and takes treats with a soft mouth. A: Affiliative and playful adult dog. Approaches for handler interaction and play, appears slightly uncomfortable/stoic with touch at this time. Medium energy. Walks well on leash. Volunteers report that she knows sit. Treat motivated. Enjoys playing with toys. Yellow for volunteer handling d/t being somewhat stoic/uncomfortable with touch. Consider for Green if recommended by volunteers.P: Make available for adoption. Adopters should be aware that dog was previously surrendered d/t reactivity/anxiety reported by previous adopter. Recommend slow and structured introduction to strangers and new environments. Dog may require additional time to decompress after adoption. Adopters should continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach.
