Health

[YELLOW]Background: Owner surrender on 8/13/26. Initially entered OAS as a puppy in September 2024, stray intake in March 2026 before being adopted by surrendering party in April 2026. During March and April 2026, she entered as a Green dot, updated to Yellow d/t mouthing the leash on re-entry to the kennel. Was given Yellow dot at most recent intake. B B Current handling observations consist of a summary of staff and volunteer handling during outings and handling for dog-dog evaluation.O: Dog was sitting near the front of the kennel. Lowered head, tail tucked under, soft face as handler crouched in front of kennel. Dog began wiggling around a little and wagging tip of still tucked tail while in seated position. Came forward when handler opened the door, low wagging tail soft face. Leash avoidant, but came forward for pets around the chin. Placed leash loop over head while petting. Dog followed handler out of the kennel. Did not engage with barking neighbors. Pulled hard on leash down the hallway. Wiggly and soft body language while handling for dog-dog evaluation. No issues going back to the kennel. Volunteers report similar kennel presentation and leash avoidance. In the yard, volunteer reported bx00nervous anxious movements. Does not settle at all, but does hop in handler's lap briefly for pets and affection. No interest in treats outside.bx00A: Dog appears anxious on return to shelter, but approachable and easy to handle for experienced volunteers. Shows enjoyment with pets. Can pull hard on leash, but manageable d/t size. Yellow for volunteer handling d/t leash avoidance in kennel and currently being anxious and unable to settle during outings with volunteers. P: Make available for adoption. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Dog previously lived with children under 12 years old with no reported issues from owner. [2026-08-15 10:18:00.000]
